A 10% loss in the price of Dangote Cement Plc dragged down the market capitalisation to close at N23.92trillion at the end of today’s trading session, to wrap up the week on a negative note. Transactions on the floor of the Stock Exchange on Friday, closed on a negative note as the All Share Index depreciated by 1.60% to settle at 43.912.64 from the previous close of 44.625.18. This brings the year-to-date to 2.80%, the month-to-date to -10.89% and the week-to-date to -1.08% respectively. Market Capitalisation closed at N23.92trillion. An aggregate of 122.786 units of shares were traded in 3,304 deals valued at N4.399billion. Market Breadth The market breadth closed negative as 16 equities gained while 18 equities declined in their share prices. Percentage Gainers WAPIC Insurance Plc led other gainers with 9.09% growth to close at N0.36 from the previous price of N0.33. Neimeth, ABC Transport and Fidelity Bank Plc amongst other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.70%, 8.00% and 7.89% respectively. Percentage Losers Dangote Cement Plc led other price decliners as it shed 10% off its share price to close at N220 from the previous close of N245. Learn Africa, Honeywell Africa and Academy Plc amongst other losers also shed their share prices by 9.68%, 9.36% and 7.53% respectively. Volume Drivers Fidelity Bank Plc traded about 14.954million units of its shares in 175 deals, valued at N59.965Billion. ETI Bank Plc traded about 10.430million units of its shares in 15 deals, valued at N10.430billion. Transcorp Plc traded about 9.137million units of its shares in 45 deals, valued at N9.668million. |
