A 9.84% loss in the price of Nestle Nigeria resulted to a drop of N282billion in the market capitalisation at the end of today’s trading session on the floor of Nigerian Exchange Limited. Transactions on the floor of the Stock Exchange on Thursday, closed on a negative note as the All Share Index depreciated by 1.04% to settle at 49.667.14 points from the previous close of 50,188.55 points, bringing the year-to-date to 16.27%, the month-to-date to -2.71% and the week-to-date to -4.51% respectively. Investors lost N282billion as market capitalisation depreciated by 1.04% to close at N26,783trillion from the previous close of N27,065trillion. An aggregate of 206.217million units of shares were traded in 5,053 deals valued at N3,921billion. Market Breadth The market breadth closed negative as 10 equities gained while 28 equities declined in their share prices. Percentage Gainers UPDC Plc led other gainers with 9.23% growth to close at N3.55 from the previous close of N3.25. R.T Briscoe, Chams and Custodian Insurance Plc amongst other gainers also grew their share prices by 8.57%, 8.33% and 7.94% respectively. Percentage Losers Lasaco Plc led other price decliners as it shed 10% off its share price to close at N0.90 from the previous close of N1. Stanbic IBTC, Cadbury and Nestle Plc amongst other losers also shed their share prices by 9.98%, 9.94% and 9.84% respectively. Volume Drivers Transcorp Plc traded about 38.529million units of its shares in 195 deals, valued at N39.011million. Zenith Bank Plc traded about 16.935million units of its shares in 723 deals, valued at N333.742billion. Chams Plc traded about 13.586million units of its shares in 246 deals, valued at N3,327million. |
