The Stock Market recorded a loss at the end of trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange, today, as 16 companies recorded gains while the equities of 18 companies depreciated in price
Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Wednesday, closed on a negative note as the All Share Index depreciated by 0.14% to settle at 53.193.98 points, from the previous close of 53.270.88 points, bringing the year-to-date to 24.53%, the month-to-date to 0.45% and the week-to-date to 0.55% respectively.
Investors lost N42billion as market capitalisation depreciated by 0.14% to close at N28.677trillion from the previous close of N28.719trillion. An aggregate of 248.959Billion units of shares were traded in 4,265 deals valued at N1.861Billion.
Market Breadth:
The market breadth closed negative as 16 equities gained while 18 equities declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers:
Caverton Plc led other gainers with 7.34% growth to close at N1.09 from the previous close of N1.17.
FTN Cocoa, Transcorp and Cutix Plc amongst other gainers also grew their share prices by 5.88%, 5.69% and 4.98% respectively.
Percentage Losers:
Champion Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.79% off its share price to close at N3.50 from the previous close of N3.88.
Cornerstone Insurance, E-Transact and NEM Insurance Plc amongst other losers also shed their share prices by 9.68%, 9.67% and 8.33% respectively.
Volume Drivers:
Champion Plc traded about 709.477mIllion units of its shares in 18 deals, valued at N2.485billion.
Cornerstone Insurance Plc traded about 1.286billion units of its shares in 15 deals, valued at N732.736million.
E-Tranzact Plc traded about 493.270million units of its shares in 9 deals, valued at N1.337billion.
