The stock market reverses the loss of yesterday as Airtel Africa recorded a gain of 9.39% to lift the market capitalisation by N346billion at the end of today’s trading session.
Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Wednesday, closed on a positive note as the All Share Index appreciated by 1.24% to settle at 52,591.41 points, from the previous close of 51,949.64 points, bringing the year-to-date to 23.12%, the month-to-date to 5.74% and the week-to-date to -0.64% respectively.
Investors gained N346billion as market capitalisation appreciated by 1.24% to close at N28,353trillion from the previous close of N28,007trillion. An aggregate of 382.455Billion units of shares were traded in 5,922 deals valued at N4,234Billion.
Market Breadth:
The market breadth closed negative as 11 equities gained while 41 equities declined in their share prices.
Percentage Gainers:
Chams Plc led other gainers with 9.52% growth to close at N0.23 from the previous close of N0.21.
Airtel Africa, FTN Cocoa and Veritas Kapital Plc amongst other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.39%, 6.06% and 4.76% respectively.
Percentage Losers:
Champion Brewery Plc led other price decliners as it shed 10% off its share price to close at N3.42 from the previous close of N3.80.
Mcnichols, PZ and Regency Insurance Plc amongst other losers also shed their share prices by 10%, 9.92% and 9.68% respectively.
Volume Drivers:
UACN Plc traded about 48.190mIllion units of its shares in 87 deals, valued at N618.643Billion.
UBA Plc traded about 31.853million units of its shares in 226 deals, valued at N250.519million.
Access Corp Plc traded about 30.691million units of its shares in 308 deals, valued at N300.769million.
