The Equities market kicked off the week on a positive note as the ASI gained by +0.81% to end today’s trading session.
Banking stocks such as Fidelity(+6.67%), Guaranty(+4.53%) and Zenithbank (+3.13%), amongst others, helped the market to outperform in today trading. This led the NSE ASI to close at 25,902.95 basis points.
Nevertheless, Market breadth was negative as 22 losers led by MOBIL (-5.00%) over 16 gainers led by UCAP (-9.41%) was recorded on the chart today.
Volume traded was 4.12 million shares, valued at N2.07 billion and traded in 3,285 deals. The highest traded Equities in volume and value was ZENITHBANK (50,056,105) and ( N649,269,361.19 ) respectively.
Two of the key Sectoral indices depreciated. While the banking and the Industrial goods indices recorded significant gains of +2.04% and +1.76% respectively, the insurance index followed suite with a marginal gain of +0.26. Conversely, the consumer and the oil & gas indices recorded losses of 0.75% and 0.61% respectively.
