The Equities market returned to positive territory after yesterday’s profit taking activities. it gained by +0.51% to end today’s trading session at 25,885.31 basis points.
Today’s gain was motivated by portfolio rebalancing and the presence of bargain hunters who took advantage of blue chips that were heavily discounted.
Also, market breadth was positive as 27 gainers led by OANDO (+10.17%) over 12 losers led by MAYBAKER (-5.00%) was recorded on the chart today.
Volume traded was 214.95 million shares, valued at N1.35 billion and traded in 3,327 deals. The highest traded Equities in volume and value were FCMB ( 34,419,497 ) and WAPCO ( N205,439,433.80 ) respectively.
All of the key Sectoral indices appreciated. While the oil & gas index took the lead with a significant gain of +0.71%, the banking and the consumer goods indices followed suit with +0.67% and +0.55% gains respectively. Also, the industrial goods and the insurance indices came last with marginal gains of +0.40% and +0.24% respectively.
