The Equities market recorded a marginal gain of +0.01% to end the first trading week for the month of March, after a six day stretch of significant gains recorded from last week’s trading. This led the ASI to close at 25,820.10 basis points.
Today’s reduced gain was as a result of profit- taking activities which dominated the trading session.
Market breadth was negative as 19 losers led by IKEJAHOTEL (-4.88%) over 23 gainers led by AFRIPRUD (+9.73%) was recorded on the chart today.
Volume traded was 257.05 million shares, valued at N1.50 billion and traded in 3,435 deals. The highest traded Equities in volume and value were FCMB ( 57,816,272 ) and ZENITHBANK ( N687,040,390.52 ) respectively.
Also, all the key Sectoral indices appreciated except the Consumer goods index which declined by 0.03%. The Insurance index led the gainers with 0.77%, While the Banking, the Industrial goods and the Oil and gas indices followed suite with 0.24%, 0.18% and 0.04% gains respectively.
