Optimism amongst investors grew stronger as seen in the good performance made by the Industrial Sector (Dangote Cement) in their year-end audited result released yesterday with a proposed dividend of N8 per share and a closure date set for Monday,April 11 to Friday, April 15, 2016.
This helped the market outperform in today’s session, as depicted by the benchmark index which grew by +2.25% to close at 25,396.83 basis points.
Market breadth was positive as 21 gainers led by TIGERBRAND (+9.27%) over 16 losers led by FIDSON (-9.38%) was recorded on the chart today.
Volume traded was 257.09 million shares, valued at
N1.64 billion and traded in 3,344 deals. The highest traded Equities in volume and value were UBA ( 40,412,956) and GUARANTY ( N379,071,210.78) respectively.
Also, all the key Sectoral indices appreciated except the Oil and gas index which declined by -2.37% .The Industrial goods index led the gainers with 4.16%, While the Banking, the Insurance and the Consumer goods indices followed suite with 1.88%, 1.12% and 0.02% gains respectively.
