From NSE Data, the market shed -1.77% to commence the first day of the month of July 2015 and to halt a 2-day uptrend as significant losses in all the key sectors were evident in today’s session which closed at 32,863.43.
Also, depreciation in the prices of most blue chips like DANGCEM with 4.44%, GUINNESS with 1.55%, NB with 0.99%, NESTLE with 0.82%, ZENITHBNK with 0.21% and FO with 0.12% contributed to the NSE ASI’s drop.
The decrease took the week–to–date returns to a reduced gain of 0.03%, the month–to–date and year-to-date markets returns to a deeper loss of -1.77% and -5.18% respectively.
ACCESS, ZENITHBANK and UBA were the most active stocks boosting market turnover in the bourse.
The market breadth was negative as 39 losers over 13 gainers was recorded.
Volume traded increased by 20.52% to 323.56 million shares, valued at N4.73 billion and traded in 4,090 deals. The highest gainer recorded was LIVESTOCK with a 4.63% gain in its price, while NEIMETH on the other hand was the highest loser with -7.91% loss in its price.
