Transaction on the floor of the Stock Exchange on Monday 8th January, 2024, sustained its bullish runs and closed the first trading day of the week on a positive note. The  All Share Index appreciated by 0.83% to settle at 80,324.53 from the previous close of 79,664.66. This brings the year-to-date to 7.33%,  month-to-date to 7.33%, and the week-to-date to 0.83% respectively.

Market Capitalisation closed at N43.957 trillion. An aggregate of 1,190,164,298 units of shares was traded in 16,081 deals valued at 15,256,852,993.33

Market Breadth

The market breadth closed positive as 54 equities gained while 18 equities declined in share prices.

Percentage Gainers
Cornerstone Insurance, Cutix, Omatek Ventures, Jaiz Bank, and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc led other gainers with 10% growth each to close at N1.87, N2.75, N0.99, N2.53, and N46.75 from their previous prices of N1.70, N2.50, N0.90, N2.30 and N42.50 respectively

Wema Bank, Sterling Bank Financial Holding, Royal Exchange,  and Coronation Insurance (Wapic) Plc amongst other gainers also grew their share prices by 9.89%, 9.88%, 9.88%, and 9.86% respectively.

Percentage Losers
Daar  Communications Plc led other price decliners as it shed 9.30% off its share price to close at N1.17 from its previous close of N1.29

Eterna, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG),  and PZ Cussons Plc amongst other losers also shed their share prices by 8.79%, 7.05%, and 6.90% respectively.

Volume Drivers

TranscorpPlc traded about 290.303 million units of its shares in 2,052 deals, valued at N4.077 billion

FCMB Plc traded about 106.053 million units of its shares in 702 deals, valued at 1.084 billion

Fidelity Bank Plc traded about 87.654 million units of its shares in 861 deals, valued at 1.189 billion
